Phoenix's 21st BirthdayTrivia Night
Phoenix Players celebrated our 21st birthday on 3 September with a theatre themed trivia night. We were joined by many of our friends from the Canberra Theatre Community. Photographs from the night are available here.
2007 PHOENIXRISING program
The inaugural PHOENIXRISING production, A Double Act, was a resounding success! Congratulations to everyone involved in the production - well done!
We attracted quite large audiences for each of the 5 shows, with closing night very close to a full house. Obviously word had gotten around that this show was not to be missed. The Canberra Times also reviewed the show, with a great review printed in the paper on the Monday after closing. An extract of the review is below.
“A Double Act is a worthy inaugural initiative by the well-established PHOENIXPLAYERS to provide pportunities for emerging artists, including writers and directors, to develop their skills and present their work to an audience. What as emerged are two tightly directed and entertaining one-act plays that demonstrate the promising talent that exists in Canberra.” “… a commendable and enjoyable showcase of emerging talent.”
The committee is always interested in receiving proposals from new directors, playwrights with original works, and other first timers, to take part in the PHOENIXRISING program. Please send your proposals to the mail address at the top of this newsletter, or via email to phoenix_players@yahoo.com.au
